01Who we are
From Code to Creation (FCTC) ("FCTC", "we", "us") runs live web development webinars and bootcamps. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, and we process it in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and its regulations.
This policy applies to our website, our registration and payment process, and the live and recorded sessions we deliver.
02Data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we collect:
- Registration details — your name, email address, phone number and any answers you give in our registration form (for example, your experience level and goals).
- Payment information — confirmation of payment, amount, date and transaction reference. Card and bank details are entered directly with Paystack; we never see or store them.
- Session participation — your name, email address and, if you turn them on, your camera, microphone and chat messages during live sessions, which may appear in session recordings.
- Communications — the content of emails, messages or feedback you send us.
- Technical data — basic information your browser sends when you visit the website, such as device type and pages viewed, and a colour-mode preference stored on your device.
03How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Register you for a webinar or bootcamp and confirm your seat — necessary to perform our agreement with you.
- Process payments and refunds, and keep financial records — necessary for our agreement with you and to meet legal obligations.
- Send you session links, schedules, recordings and course updates — necessary to deliver the service you signed up for.
- Record sessions so participants can catch up — based on our legitimate interest in providing a complete learning experience. You can take part with your camera and microphone off.
- Tell you about future cohorts and events — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Improve our programmes based on feedback — based on our legitimate interest.
We do not sell your personal data, use it for third-party advertising, or make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
04Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run FCTC, under terms that require them to protect it:
- Google (Google Forms, Google Meet, Gmail) — registration, live sessions, recordings and email.
- Paystack — payment processing and refunds.
- Our hosting provider — to serve this website.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our participants or the public.
05International transfers
Some of our providers, including Google, store data on servers outside Nigeria. Where data leaves Nigeria we rely on the safeguards the NDPA permits, such as the provider's contractual data-protection commitments.
06How long we keep it
- Registration details — for up to 2 years after your last cohort or webinar, so we can support you and honour any certificates or references.
- Payment records — for 6 years, as required for tax and accounting purposes.
- Session recordings — for as long as we make them available to the cohort, after which they are deleted.
- Marketing preferences — until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.
When we no longer need your data, we delete it or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.
07Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your data (this policy).
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Have your data deleted where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello.fctc@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
08Cookies and local storage
Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. We store your colour-mode preference on your device so the site looks the way you left it.
Our registration page embeds a Google Form, and Google may set its own cookies when it loads. Those are governed by Google's privacy policy.
09Security
We limit access to your data to the people who need it to run FCTC, use reputable providers with strong security practices, and never handle your card details ourselves. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the NDPC as the law requires.
10Children
Our programmes are intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has registered without consent, contact us and we will delete their data.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our programmes or the law change. We will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let registered participants know by email.
